Tom Brokaw accused of sexual misconduct
Former NBC News correspondent Linda Vester has accused former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw of unwanted sexual advances, according to an exclusive video from Variety.
Why it matters: NBC was hit by the #MeToo movement when "Today Show" co-host Matt Lauer was accused of inappropriate sexual behavior. Vester says she was "groped and assaulted" by Brokaw, a legendary name in news.
"Much of my work for NBC was going to war zones, and being in positions of real danger...and had some transient PTSD. But it was not a fraction of the PTSD I have suffered from this, and it's really important that employers get that, and NBC gets that."— Vester
The details: Per Variety, Vester alleges that Brokaw "physically tried to force her to kiss him on two seperate occasions, groper her...and showed up at her hotel room uninvited," and says that she was "deeply traumatized."
- Brokaw denied the allegations, Variety reported, saying that he met with her "on two occasions," and the meetings "were brief, cordial and appropriate."
- The Washington Post reports that another woman alleges that Brokaw "acted inappropriately toward her" in the 1990s.
