NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch accused the media Thursday of "loving" mass shootings because they boost TV ratings. "Now I'm not saying that you love the tragedy. But I am saying that you love the ratings," she said during a speech at CPAC. Last night, Loesch also faced students from the Parkland shooting at a CNN town hall.
"Crying white mothers are ratings gold to you and many in the legacy media ... notice I said 'crying white mothers' because there are thousands of grieving black mothers in Chicago every weekend, and you don't see town halls for them, do you? Where's the CNN town hall for Chicago? Where's the CNN town hall for sanctuary cities?"— Dana Loesch at CPAC
NRA executive vice president Wayne LaPierre also spoke at CPAC:
- He criticized Black Lives Matter and other liberal advocacy groups for fostering "uncivil discourse."
- He called for more guns in schools — a solution that President Trump has also proposed — to increase school safety.
- "Schools must be the most hardened targets in this country, and evil must be confronted immediately with all necessary force to protect our kids ... to stop a bad guy with a gun, it takes a good guy with a gun," LaPierre said.
