Republican senator wants details on Mueller getting transition emails

Republican Senator Ron Johnson is asking the Government Services Administration why it didn't "protect" Trump transition emails. "GSA's alleged actions could have serious ramifications for presidential transitions in the future," he wrote to the head of the GSA.

Why it matters: Axios' Mike Allen has reported that Mueller obtained "many tens of thousands" of Trump transition emails from the GSA, which hosted the transition email system. Trump's lawyers have called collection of the emails by Mueller "unlawful."

Among the things Johnson requested from Murphy:

Identities of the GSA employee that authorized giving the emails to Mueller, and the employee designated as the Federal Transition Coordinator.
GSA training staff undergo focusing on the "private nature of transition team's records and the legal protections of these private materials."
Documents and communications between GSA employees "referring or relating to the production of records generated during the presidential transition for President-elect Donald J. Trump."
Copy of the Memorandum of Understanding the GSA and TFA entered into during transition.
