The United States dropped a GBU-43/B — the most powerful non-nuclear bomb ever used in combat — for the first time Thursday in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, per CNN.
Sean Spicer said the bomb was used to target "a system of tunnels and caves that ISIS fighters used to move around freely."
Sense of scale: Commonly referred to as the Mother of All Bombs (MOAB), it weights 21,000 pounds and has an explosive yield equal to 11 tons of TNT — though that's just 0.073% as powerful as the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
