The times Trump went after Jeff Flake on Twitter

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) announced Tuesday that he'll retire after the 2018 elections, giving an emotional speech on the Senate floor saying the politics of President Trump convinced him to exit. "Mr. President, I rise today to say 'enough,'" he said.

The Trump tweets since September of 2016 that targeted Flake:

  • September 2016: "The Republican Party needs strong and committed leaders, not weak people such as @JeffFlake, if it is going to stop illegal immigration."
  • September 2016: "The Great State of Arizona, where I just had a massive rally (amazing people), has a very weak and ineffective Senator, Jeff Flake. Sad!"
  • August 2017: "Great to see that Dr. Kelli Ward is running against Flake Jeff Flake, who is WEAK on borders, crime and a non-factor in Senate. He's toxic!"
  • August 2017: "Phoenix crowd last night was amazing - a packed house. I love the Great State of Arizona. Not a fan of Jeff Flake, weak on crime & border!"
