Secret Service relocates from Trump Tower command post

Trump's Secret Service detail previously stationed its command unit one floor below the Trump family's residence within Trump Tower in New York. They recently moved their post to a unit on the sidewalk near the building, nearly 50 floors away from the Trump's residence. But now they're relocating, per WashPost, and abandoning their Trump Tower command unit (though they say their security plan hasn't changed).

A spokeswoman told WashPost that after a "mutually determined" decision, "it would be more cost effective and logistically practical for the Secret Service to lease space elsewhere."

Why it matters: A former Secret Service official told the post that distancing the Secret Service's command unit from the Trump's residence will raise security concerns, especially during an emergency.
