Polling shows health care hurt key senators

New polling from the left-leaning Public Policy Polling shows that the GOP's unsuccessful attempt to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act has hurt the approval ratings of senators from key states — Dean Heller, Jeff Flake and Cory Gardner.

Why it matters: The polling gives new, specific evidence of the damage of the health care effort. Heller and Flake, representing Nevada and Arizona, are the only GOP senators considered vulnerable in 2018. Gardner isn't up until 2020, but he's from Colorado, which went for Hillary Clinton in last year's election.

The polling:

• 24 percent of Coloradans approve of Gardner's job performance, and 53 percent said his vote for the health care bill makes them less likely to support him.
• 18 percent of Arizonans approve of Flake's performance, and 52 percent said Flake's vote for the GOP health care bill made them less likely to support him.
• 22 percent of Nevadans approve of Heller's job performance, and only 31 percent said they'd vote for him over a generic Democratic opponent. (Nevadans weren't asked how his vote impacted their support of Heller, but 54 percent said they disapproved of the health care bill.)
