FEMA Director Brock Long called Tropical Storm Harvey a "landmark event" on CNN's "State of the Union with Jake Tapper" Sunday. When asked whether FEMA was prepared for the months-long recovery after the storm, Long said that process would last "years."
- Long said FEMA is focused on response, but already activating their recovery housing teams and working to implement National Flood Insurance Program policies.
- "Right now the best thing people can do is donate money," Katrina Farmer, a director with the American Red Cross, said. "This is going to be an expensive disaster." Apple is collecting donations directly through iTunes.
- Texas-based groups are also seeking donations of blood and diapers.
