AT&T will again extend the termination date of its $85 billion merger with Time Warner to April 22, 2018, according to an SEC filing. Both parties had previously agreed to extend the end date in October while awaiting regulatory approval from the Justice Department. The deal is now being extended in response the DOJ's announcement last week that it will sue to block them merger
Why it matters: The two parties are hoping the merger could still go through if the DOJ loses the lawsuit. "AT&T intends to vigorously contest the DOJ's allegations and is confident that the Court will reject the DOJ's challenge to the merger," the filing reads.
