Apple shifts Siri oversight to software boss Craig Federighi

Apple has shuffled some of the duties of its top executives, shifting responsibility for the Siri automated assistant to software head Craig Federighi. Previously, Siri had been the responsibility of services chief Eddy Cue.

The changes were made recently but became public overnight in updated bios on the company's Web site.

Apple also added the bios of two other executives to its page, China managing director Isabel Ge Mahe and VP of People Dierdre O' Brien.

Why it matters: Siri, which began on the iPhone, is increasingly important companywide as a part of the Mac and new devices, such as the HomePod speaker. Apple faces competition with other tech giants including Amazon, Google and Microsoft.
