FEMA Director Brock Long called Tropical Storm Harvey a "landmark event" on CNN's "State of the Union with Jake Tapper" Sunday. When asked whether FEMA was prepared for the months-long recovery after the storm, Long said that process would last "years."
Long said FEMA is focused on response, but already activating their recovery housing teams and working to implement National Flood Insurance Program policies.
"Right now the best thing people can do is donate money," Katrina Farmer, a director with the American Red Cross, said. "This is going to be an expensive disaster." Apple is collecting donations directly through iTunes.
