When transgender sailors are off duty, the Navy announced they will allow them to dress however they want based on their gender identity, NBC news reports.
Background: The dress code decision was delivered the same week as the military's new policy rolls out, limiting transgender troops and recruits from transitioning to another sex. The new trans military policy goes into effect on Friday. LGBTQ advocacy organizations have filed lawsuits to overturn the ban, characterizing it as “discriminatory.”
