SoftBank wants to disrupt FIFA with $25 billion investment

Japan's SoftBank wants to team up with a global set of investors to create a new soccer tournament for FIFA worth at least $25 billion and featuring top clubs from around the world, reports the Financial Times.

Why it matters: SoftBank would extend its influence into the lucrative sports industry with this investment while FIFA could add another large revenue source — despite facing deepening corruption scandals over the last few years.
