Hill moves
- Matt Cronin has left his position as chief investigative counsel and deputy general counsel for the House China Select Committee and is starting at a16z as senior national security advisor (law and policy).Â
- Matthew Norambuena has a new position as deputy press secretary and digital manager at Sen. Jacky Rosen's office, per Leadership Connect. He was previously Rosen's communications assistant.
Administration moves
- Austin Bonner has started a new position as special assistant to the president for economic policy at the White House. She previously served as the deputy U.S. chief technology officer for policy at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
- The FCC's Enforcement Bureau has announced Andy Hendrickson as its new chief technology officer. Hendrickson comes from the private sector, with over 20 years of experience in telecommunications including at Verizon.
- Jason Chauvin has a new position as director of industrial trade policy at USTR, per Leadership Connect. He was most recently at Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security.
- Gabriel Nicholas will be on loan for the next year as a senior policy analyst at National Telecommunications and Information Administration, joining from the Center for Democracy & Technology.
- Philip Murphy is now assistant director for spectrum and telecom policy at OSTP, per Leadership Connect. He was previously senior advisor at NTIA.
- The Biden administration has announced its plans to appoint Joan Ferrini-Mundy, Yolanda Gil, Juan Gilbert, Jeffrey A. Isaacson, Willie E. May, Alondra Nelson, Sarah O'Donnell and Ryan Panchadsaram to the National Science Board.
- Jolina Cuaresma has a new position as deputy U.S. CTO for privacy at OSTP. She was recently senior policy counsel at the FCC's Enforcement Bureau.
- NIST director Laurie Locascio will leave the agency and join the American National Standards Institute as its new CEO in January.
Industry and lobbying moves
- ACA Connects has promoted Zamir Ahmed to senior vice president, external affairs, and Bill Tortoriello to vice president – technology & policy. Previously, Ahmed worked in media relations for the National Association of Broadcasters and Tortoriello was director of regulatory policy at UScellular.
- Olivia Igbokwe-Curry is now the director of Amazon Web Services federal affairs and federal AI policy. She was previously head of federal affairs and federal AI policy.
- Tahra Jirari is joining the Chamber of Progress as director of economic analysis. She was recently the communications manager at Captura.
- UScellular CEO Laurent "LT" Therivel has been elected as chair of CTIA's board of directors, effective Jan. 1. He's been president and CEO of UScellular for four years and currently serves as the vice-chairman of CTIA.
- Mary Hubbard has started as the executive director of WordPress.org after resigning as head of TikTok Americas, governance and experience.
- At NetChoice, Bartlett Cleland is joining as general counsel and director of strategic initiatives, and Patrick Hedger will be serving as director of policy. Cleland was the executive director of Rainey Center's Leadership Alliance for a More Perfect Union program, and Hedger was vice president of policy and executive director of the Taxpayers Protection Alliance.
- Rational 360 has announced that Steve Kidera will be joining as senior vice president, technology. He previously led communications for TechNet.
Nonprofit and think tank moves
- Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy's Tech & Policy Policy program and Massive Data Institute has appointed Renée DiResta to the position of associate research professor. DiResta is the former research director at the Stanford University Internet Observatory.
