President-elect Trump said Thursday he's appointing tech investor David Sacks to be his AI czar.
Why it matters: An AI czar won't require Senate consent, allowing Sacks to get to work on the administration's goals faster.
What they're saying: "David will guide policy for the Administration in Artificial Intelligence and Cryptocurrency, two areas critical to the future of American competitiveness," Trump posted on Truth Social.
- "David will focus on making America the clear global leader in both areas. He will safeguard Free Speech online, and steer us away from Big Tech bias and censorship."
- Sacks will also serve as the crypto czar and lead the Presidential Council of Advisors for Science and Technology, Trump said.
Flashback: Sacks, who worked at PayPal along with Elon Musk, called Trump this summer to back JD Vance for vice president, Axios reported.
