Republicans have officially kept control of the House, according to Associated Press projections, giving China hawks a chance to dominate the agenda.
Why it matters: The GOP views Beijing as the biggest geopolitical threat, and that will heavily inform tech policy and rhetoric.
- House GOP leadership has made clear they're not interested in taking any big swings at AI regulation in order to beat China in a global tech race.
- They will find some common ground with Democrats who may want more AI regulations in place but also view China as competition.
- Export controls are also on the table.
Don't forget Speaker Mike Johnson previously told Axios that a Trump victory means an immediate, aggressive stance toward China, and House Republicans will have to adjust.
- Big Tech will probably continue to face accusations of censoring conservative speech online, with executives being called in for grillings on Capitol Hill.
