TechNet added five new members on Tuesday, the tech lobbying group told Axios exclusively, including TSMC and Cohere.
The big picture: As companies get bigger and wade into issues discussed on Capitol Hill, they want groups like TechNet for support and to fight off any bills they don't want.
Driving the news: Cohere, Shopify, ElevenLabs, TSMC and the College Board are now members of TechNet.
- Cohere builds enterprise-level AI models for businesses.
- Shopify is an e-commerce infrastructure company.
- ElevenLabs makes audio from AI meant to mimic real voices.
- TSMC is a major chips manufacturer.
- College Board is an college prep organization.
Between the lines: Cohere may be subject to any new AI regulation, and ElevenLabs could get caught up in debates over AI transparency and taking jobs from creatives.
- Semiconductor manufacturing remains a major priority for lawmakers, so TSMC boosting its Washington presence makes sense.
