The big picture: Industrial companies often operate on thin margins that can be amplified by market volatility and geopolitical tensions.

How it works: The company, based in Norway and Portugal, pulls in external data, like commodity prices, trade flows and energy markets, to model which signals affect a company's specific products and input costs, then turns those forecasts into decision recommendations. 

Frenkenberger says many manufacturing decisions still rely on spreadsheets and gut instinct, rather than data tailored to the specific purchasing or pricing decisions.

Context: The round was co-led by Venturefriends and Semapa Next, and it follows a $600,000 pre-seed in January co-led by Vanagon Ventures and EWOR.

Between the lines: Industrial companies have historically been conservative adopters of new technology, but Frenkenberger says the rise of AI, higher interest rates and sustained market volatility have created a "perfect storm" pushing the sector to modernize.

What they're saying: General-purpose LLMs aren't built to guide complex procurement decisions without deeper modeling. Frenkenberger says. "It won't give you a good answer."

Zoom in: The seed funding gives Sybilion 18-24 months of runway to prove its models can consistently outperform spreadsheet-based planning, with a goal of reaching mid-seven-figure revenue within the next year.
