Hair-care company Gisou has hired Jefferies to advise on a potential sale, three sources tell Axios Pro.

Zoom in: Founded in 2015 by influencer and sixth-generation beekeeper Negin Mirsalehi, the Dutch brand sells a honey-infused hair oil for about $25 a pop. 

Gisou since has expanded into lip oil and fragrances, all with honey as the central ingredient. Its products are sold in Sephora and on Amazon.

European PE firm Eurazeo made a minority investment in Gisou in 2022. Last year, Gisou had expected revenue of $50 million to $75 million, according to Beauty Matters.

State of play: Putting beauty brands on the block is on-trend for several pockets of the market. 

"Mass-tige" brands, or those with luxurious vibes for lower prices, are coming to market as they capture more cost-conscious consumers.

Big beauty companies face shareholder pressure to slim down.

And a few top-shelf brands — especially those with a viral following — have found suitors.

The bottom line: Beauty bankers are busy, but the field is getting crowded.
