The Weather Company has named a new CEO and CFO.

Why it matters: The C-suite changes are part of a commitment by the company's new private equity owners to invest in technology and talent.

Driving the news: The Weather Company appointed Rohit Agarwal, formerly chief product officer of SoundCloud and CNN, to CEO as it aims to grow both its consumer and enterprises businesses.

Sheri Bachstein, who has served as CEO since 2021, will transition to president, a first-time position for the company. She will focus on the company's enterprise business, including advertising, aviation, media and government and defense products.

The Weather Company also hired Michael Love as chief financial officer. He was previously CFO of Intuit Mailchimp. Love is the company's first dedicated CFO following the transition out of IBM.

Zoom in: Agarwal tells Axios he was recruited by the company's new owner, Francisco Partners. He brings years of product expertise to The Weather Company, which owns several digital properties including The Weather Channel app, weather.com, Weather Underground and the Storm Radar app.

"Having an accurate forecast — a forecast you can truly trust — is more paramount than ever given our increasing climate volatility," Agarwal says. "While we can't control the weather, we can predict it."

By the numbers: The Weather Company's digital properties attract more than 360 million monthly visitors. 

More than 2,000 enterprise customers use its data to gather weather insights.

More than 25,000 flights rely on its products and services for managing takeoff and landing and operational efficiencies every day.

What's next: Agarwal says his main priorities include improving the product offerings and user experience to be more personal, more engaging and a greater part of people's daily lives.

Agarwal says he also will help Bachstein's with the enterprise business by expanding the products and investing in more strategic partnerships.
