Ladder Health, a pediatric developmental care company, raised $7 million in seed funding led by Nina Capital, CEO Mitch Mudra tells Axios Pro exclusively.

Why it matters: Investors continue to see potential in new health care service models. 

Follow the money: Other firms participating in the round included Mairs & Power Venture Capital, South Dakota First Capital and incubating partner 25Madison Health.

How it works: NYC-based Ladder Health operates a virtual-first care model that provides physical, occupational, speech and feeding therapy to children up to age six.

The company accepts a mix of commercial insurance and Medicaid. Currently, its Medicaid population accounts for 65% of its total patient base, but Mudra envisions an even split as the company scales. 

Zoom out: The company is aiming to combat the long waitlists often associated with pediatric services.

Zoom in: Ladder hopes the ability for parents to augment care differentiates it with users. 

Its platform helps parents enhance care through exercises, resources and support.

"They can have the confidence and support to actually be therapeutic partners making progress, performing exercises in between visits and reducing the burden on just these weekly visits," Mudra says.

What's next: Ladder Health likely won't raise until the end of 2027, Mudra says.

The company currently operates in Maryland, Massachusetts and North Carolina and is aiming to be in one to two more states by the end of the year.

State of play: The segment has garnered interest from dealmakers in the past year. 

Hazel Health, which recently pivoted from a sale process, acquired Little Otter in October 2025.

Coral Care closed a $13M Series A for developmental pediatric therapy in February.

Morgan Health co-led an $80 million raise in Cortica, a company that offers virtual, in-home and in-clinic care for across a number of areas, including speech and occupational therapy, in November 2024.
