AeroSafe Global, a NewSpring Capital-backed health care logistics company, hired JPMorgan to advise on a sale, Axios Pro has learned.

The big picture: Major shipping strategics are investing heavily in the health supply chain.

Inside the room: The process has not yet launched, two sources say. AeroSafe Global is being marketed on $40 million-plus of EBITDA.

Follow the money: NewSpring led a $43 million Series F round in 2023, joined by existing investors Peloton Equity, Merck Global Health Innovation Fund, Hamilton Lane, Flexstone Partners, Wave Equity Partners and Escalate Capital. 

Rochester, N.Y.-based AeroSafe Global has raised close to $200 million, per PitchBook.

AeroSafe Global also invested in Tag-N-Trac's $10 million Series A in 2022.

JPMorgan declined to comment. Newspring and AeroSafe did not respond to requests for comment.

How it works: AeroSafe Global is a biopharmaceutical cold chain services provider, aiming to ensure safe, sustainable delivery of prescription drugs and medical products.

It offers reusable thermal packaging, outsourced supply chain services and a temperature monitoring control tower.

Stunning stat: Improper cold-chain handling is estimated to cost the pharma industry as much as $35 billion annually in spoiled or compromised products.

Zoom out: Medical shipments are among the most profitable types of freight a trucker can haul — and the major carriers are angling for their piece of the market.

Last year, UPS agreed to pay around $1.6 billion to acquire Andlauer Healthcare Group (TSX: AND), a Canadian health logistics and transportation provider.

Meanwhile, FedEx booked $9 billion in health care revenue in fiscal year 2025, driving growth in its U.S. priority (or premium, time-sensitive shipments) volumes.

State of play: Sponsors have been active investors in the health supply chain, too. 

HCI Partners sold last-mile health network SDS Rx to DHL's supply chain division last year for an undisclosed price. 

Water Street Healthcare Partners has made at least two investments, backing specialized med tech logistics providers GMLx and last-mile network MedSpeed.

EQT and Mubadala have held cold-chain transport platform Envirotainer since 2022.

Last year, Great Point Partners acquired a majority stake in Eutecma, which focuses on sustainable temperature-controlled pharmaceutical packaging.
