Driving the news: Eikon's filing shows that Catalyst4 paid $75 million for a 5.2% stake in the biopharmaceutical tied to research on Parkinson's disease.

Catalyst4 also has up to $100 million in additional upside if Eikon hits certain regulatory milestones or commercializes the product.

Having raised over $1 billion, the company's market cap could be in the billions on public markets.

Behind the scenes: Brin's mother had Parkinson's disease, and he carries the mutation, putting him at higher risk of getting it.

Background: Formed largely by Tesla and Alphabet stock donations from Brin, Catalyst4 received over $1 billion in Alphabet stock from Brin in 2025 — adding to the $1.1 billion it held at the end of 2024.

It is the largest investor in Maplight Therapeutics, whose lead product focuses on schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease psychosis. It also led an $80 million round in spacial biology company Stellaromics and placed a bet on hallucinogenics company Soneira.

Context: Alphabet's stock surged to an all-time high on Monday, giving the company a $4 trillion valuation.
