Posterity Health, a fertility startup focused on reproductive health, collected a $13 million Series A, CEO Pam Pure tells Axios exclusively.

Yes, but: Fertility is still largely framed as a women's health issue, a reality that can place an unequal burden on women to seek out health care services and hinder timely treatment for men.

Follow the money: Georgetown Equity Partners led the round.

Existing investors FCA Venture Partners, Distributed Ventures, and WVV joined, along with new investors SteelSky Ventures and Scrub Capital.

Funds will be used to hone Posterity's tech, expand its services in areas like weight loss, and boost marketing efforts.

Posterity is not yet profitable, per Pure, who declined to share revenue figures.

How it works: Based in Colorado, Posterity offers a mix of digital and in-person services including fertility testing and treatment, vasectomies, vasectomy reversals, and hormone therapy.

Pure says roughly 60% of patients are referred via providers like fertility centers or urologists, while the other 40% comes via payers.

The company saw 12,000 patients last year, per Pure.

As part of the raise, William Schoolcraft, the founder and chief medical officer of Colorado fertility clinic and research organization CCRM Fertility, is joining Posterity's strategic advisory board.

Between the lines: Posterity aims to break what Pure referred to as a cycle of care avoidance in men by de-stigmatizing male fertility services, making them more accessible and convenient.

Flashback: Posterity raised $6 million in seed extension funding in 2024 following a $7.5 million seed in 2023.

What they're saying: "A big part of our thrust is education: What can you do to take ownership of your health? What you can you do to support your partner and make fertility an integrated couples journey?" says Pure.

Posterity is "addressing this new market of men who want to be part of the solution and not just leave it all on the women, says SteelSky Ventures partner Maria Toler. "They've tapped into this generational shift."

🔔 Fun fact: In its Denver headquarters, Posterity has a bell it rings whenever one of its customers experiences a pregnancy.

State of play: Other companies in the space include Legacy, Yo, Mojo, Path, and Fellow. Notable recent deals include:

Sperm testing and storage company Legacy last summer raised a $25 million Series B at a $150 million valuation.

Next Life Sciences raised $2.5 million last January to develop a male contraceptive product called Plan A.

Ro acquired Dadi for a reported $100 million in 2022.

The bottom line: Despite its medical and economic benefits, male reproductive care remains overlooked.
