Rep. Buddy Carter has been selected as the Energy and Commerce Health subcommittee chair for the next Congress, incoming Energy and Commerce chairman Brett Guthrie announced Friday.
Why it matters: Carter has built a lot of his health legislative portfolio around cracking down on the practices of PBMs, meaning that could remain a health care topic of interest in the 119th Congress.
Zoom in: Guthrie also announced that Rep. Neal Dunn, a surgeon, will be the health subcommittee vice-chair.
The health subcommittee chairmanship spot was open after Guthrie, who had served as the chair of the health subcommittee, was selected to run the full E&C committee.
Other contenders for health subcommittee chair were Reps. Morgan Griffith and Gus Bilirakis, but they will be serving in other subcommittee chairmanships.
