Range, which uses AI to offer flat-fee financial planning services to mass affluent households, has raised $60 million in Series C funding, CEO Fahad Hassan tells Axios Pro.

Why it matters: Most Americans face complex decisions about retirement, taxes and equity compensation without professional advice.

The raise brings Range's total funding to just over $100 million.

Along with the funding, Rocket Money CEO Haroon Mokhtarzada and Scale partner Alex Niehenke are joining the company's board.

How it works: McLean, Va.-based Range runs an SEC-registered investment advisor that pairs human planners with an AI engine called Rai.

Customers link accounts across brokers and banks so the platform can see a customer's full balance sheet and generate plans that cover investing, taxes and estate issues.

Rai sits atop in-house planning software that Range spent years building for its own advisors to answer customer questions and propose strategies.

Follow the money: Customers can pay a flat fee for advice and keep their money at firms like Schwab or Fidelity, or they can move their assets to Range.

If they do move, the company manages portfolios without charging asset management fees based on the portfolio's size.

Range's annual fee starts at about $2,500 but can reach up to $10,000 for more complex financial planning.

Between the lines: Range wants AI to take over most of the day-to-day advisory work rather than just help human advisors move faster.

Hassan says Rai now handles more than half of customer communications six months after launch.

He argues that many traditional advisors rely on similar software under the hood, yet still collect a typical 1% of assets each year, which he estimates can cost a typical household about $250,000 in lifetime fees.

What they're saying: Customers are "getting ripped off in terms of asset management fees to park you in the S&P 500," Hassan says.

By the numbers: Range works with about 3,000 households, including roughly 5,500 individual clients, and advises on more than $9 billion held at external institutions.

The company also has about $425 million in assets under management and expects to cross roughly $500 million by year's end, up from about $100 million at the end of last year, Hassan says.

Revenue has grown about 300% over the past year, Hassan says, as more customers have signed on to have Range manage a larger share of their assets.

What's next: Range plans to launch broker-dealer services in early 2026 so customers can open trading accounts and buy or sell equities and options directly on its platform.

The company is also rolling out an internal "compliance agent" that uses AI to monitor Rai's answers against securities rules.
