Immad Akhund, the CEO of business banking unicorn Mercury, is seeking to raise $26 million for a venture capital fund, an SEC filing shows.

Why it matters: Last valued at $1.6 billion, Mercury has reportedly been in talks to raise at a $3 billion valuation with Sequoia as the lead investor.

Driving the news: Dubbed Immad Akhund Ventures, the filing names Akhund as the Managing Director of the General Partner.

Previously a part-time partner at Y-Combinator, Akhund has been an active seed-stage investor with bets in companies including Airtable, Substack, Rippling, Deel, and Rappi.

More recent investments have included generative AI gaming company Campfire, automation startup Gumloop and OpenPipe.
