Data infrastructure company Feldera raised $15.4 million in Series A funding, CEO Lalith Suresh tells Axios Pro exclusively.

Why it matters: As companies adopt more AI, they need quicker access to up-to-date information.

How it works: Feldera says it reduces the amount of compute needed to keep large datasets current by updating only the data that has changed, rather than reprocessing an entire dataset.

This makes data processing faster and cheaper.

Feldera customers are using the technology in areas like fraud detection, logistics and AI agent authorization. 

What they're saying: Suresh says that people are often running the same queries multiple times.

"That blows the bill," he says. "They're really forced to choose between freshness and costs, and cost always wins because budgets are finite."

Zoom out: Global spending on AI models and platforms is projected to reach $64 billion this year, up 63% from $39 billion in 2025, with companies prioritizing performance and cost, according to Gartner.

Follow the money: The San Francisco-based company's Series A closed in July, led by Inovia Capital. Costanoa Ventures and Battery Ventures joined.

It raised a $6.1 million seed round led by Costanoa Ventures that closed three years ago.

What's next: Suresh says the financing gives Feldera more than three years of runway and will primarily help it support larger workloads.
