Capacity, an agentic support automation platform, raised more than $54 million in Series E funding, CEO David Karandish tells Axios Pro exclusively.

Why it matters: AI tools need support, and competition there is heating up.

The round was led by former supermodel Kathy Ireland, whose licensing company is a Capacity customer.

How it works: Capacity's platform helps combine separate customer experience capabilities — like virtual agents, voice, transcription — into one layer to limit the integrations companies have to stitch together.

What's next: St. Louis-based Capacity will use the cash for add-ons to its CX platform.

It is seeking targets in the $5 million-to-$15 million ARR range, with capabilities like real-time agent assist, post-interaction workflow and outbound campaign agents, Karandish says.

By the numbers: Capacity is currently cash-flow breakeven with more than $100 million in ARR, Karandish says.

It has more than 20,000 customers, including about 700 large enterprises.

Catch up quick: Capacity has acquired 18 companies since 2023, per PitchBook.

Existing backers include TVC Capital, Toloka.vc and Chicago Atlantic. It's raised more than $159 million since being founded in 2017.

What we're watching: Karandish said Capacity could seek more capital if it finds a larger target.
