Airis Labs, an AI video platform for defense, has come out of stealth with a $31 million Series B led by PSG Equity, co-founder and CEO Noam Friedman tells Axios Pro.

Why it matters: Defense tech funding is booming.

How it works: Airis' platform can take unstructured, unindexed visual data from smartphones, social media, security and body cameras, and drones, and turn it into machine-readable intelligence using AI agents.

The solution does not collect the data, but can instead be used by government agencies in their own secure environments.

What they're saying: "Most threats emerge through visual data," Friedman says. "The problem is how to extract the relevant information."

What's next: A Series C is "definitely on the roadmap" and could happen as early as next year, Friedman says.

Zoom in: The platform is used mainly by army intelligence agencies, law enforcement and national security agencies in the U.S. and Europe, Friedman said.

TLV Partners, Stepstone Group, Redseed Ventures and angel investors also joined the Series B.

State of play: The company plans to expand into commercial sectors such as retail, security and manufacturing in the coming years but for now will stay focused on defense, Friedman says.

By the numbers: Founded in 2023, the Washington D.C.-based Airis has raised $60 million in total.
