Government and politics
Jack Clem has a new position as press secretary at the House China Select Committee. He was most recently staff assistant for Rep. Dale Strong, per Leadership Connect.
Eden Alem joined the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee as deputy communications director for Sen. Martin Heinrich.
Matt Christiansen joined Wilson Sonsini after serving as FERC general counsel under multiple chairs.
Jake Tyner started a new position as deputy solicitor general at the Interior Department.
Byron Brown was named chief counsel on the House Energy and Commerce Committee's environment subcommittee.
Lobbying and industry
Renae Black joined Duke Energy as chief sustainability officer and vice president of policy.
Maria Robinson joined Hitachi Energy as vice president of North America Region Business Development. She formerly directed the DOE's Grid Deployment Office.
Daniel Palken, a former staffer on Senate ENR, was named director of infrastructure for energy and permitting at Arnold Ventures.
Molly Morrissey started a new position as principal at Policy Resolution Group at Bracewell.
Candice Robertson joined BWXT Technical Services Group as its deputy for environment, energy, and new missions. She previously held various leadership roles in DOE's Office of Environmental Management.
Tyler Jones, an audit and assurance services partner based in Dallas, was named head of energy at Grant Thornton.
Eric Vandenberg joined Invenergy as senior director, transmission policy after more than 15 years at FERC.
The American Clean Power Association announced that Tara Hupman is its new vice president of external affairs.
Rita Baranwal, a former DOE assistant secretary for nuclear energy, joined Radiant as its first chief nuclear officer.
Calvin Butler, president and CEO of Exelon, was elected chair of the board of the Edison Electric Institute, the national association of investor-owned electric companies. David Campbell, chair and CEO of Evergy, and Chris Womack, chair, president and CEO of Southern Company, were elected vice chairs.
Amy Varghese was named head of communications at EDP Renewables North America.
Ashlin Bollacker joined the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America as director of pipeline safety after working at the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration.
TerraPower promoted Eric Williams to serve as its first executive vice president and chief operating officer.
McGuireWoods announced the arrival of Sharaf Islam, who brings extensive experience negotiating complex energy and infrastructure financings. He was previously a partner with Kirkland & Ellis.
The Essential Minerals Association announced that Megan Delany is its new senior vice president, general counsel. Kaline Gabriel is joining as the new director of safety and regulatory standards.
Nonprofits and think tanks
Evergreen Action named Rachel Patterson its senior policy director.
Carbon180, a carbon removal nonprofit, announced three new directors: Noah McQueen as director of science and innovation; Amanda Viellard as director of ocean policy; and Daphne Yin as director of land policy.
Carnegie Mellon University hired Joseph DeCarolis to be the new head of its Department of Engineering and Public Policy. DeCarolis was previously administrator of the Energy Information Administration.
The Electric Power Research Institute announced the retirement of Neil Wilmshurst, chief nuclear strategy officer and managing director of EPRI Gulf, effective Sept. 30.
Tyson Brown started a new role as lead market economist at the California Independent System Operator after working at the Energy Information Administration.
