Rep. Jared Huffman has tapped Ana Unruh Cohen, a longtime D.C. fixture, to be staff director for Democrats on the Natural Resources Committee.
Why it matters: Cohen has deep experience in environmental politics and helped draw up many of the policies that eventually made it into the IRA and infrastructure law.
Driving the news: Huffman said in a statement that Cohen will help Dems prepare "to push back against Trump's 'drill baby drill' agenda."
- Cohen was staff director for the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis before moving to the Council on Environmental Quality in the Biden White House.
- She's also been a lobbyist for NRDC and worked under then-Rep. Ed Markey on Natural Resources and the old Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.
