Republicans have officially held onto their majority in the House, according to Associated Press projections, completing a GOP sweep of Congress and the White House and putting the rollback of IRA's climate policies on the table.
Why it matters: House Republicans could ramp up efforts to roll back some energy tax credits and unspent climate funds as they have unchecked leverage over legislation to extend the 2017 Trump tax cuts.
State of play: Republicans will enter the next session with some new committee leadership and an expected three-way race for the E&C gavel.
- Rep. Bob Latta has the deepest energy background and told Axios he would address growing electricity growth and permitting backlogs.
- Rep. Brett Guthrie has pledged to eliminate "EV mandates," preserve existing fossil fuel and nuclear generation, and roll back pieces of the IRA.
- Rep. Richard Hudson has also been in the mix.
Our thought bubble: Even with Republican control, there's not much chance the House will try to roll back IRA incentives and DOE grants and loans that are supporting manufacturing and creating jobs in GOP districts.
