InduPro raised a $77 million Series B as its lead oncology drug enters human testing, CEO Prakash Raman says.

The big picture: Cancer and autoimmune drugmakers continue to command an outsized share of biotech venture dollars.

How it works: Cambridge, Massachusetss-based InduPro looks for proteins that cluster together on diseased cells and uses those pairings to build bispecific drugs.

Its lead cancer drug, IDP-001, pairs EGFR with a second antigen the company says sits near tumor cells but not normal tissue, aiming to improve selectivity and uptake by cancer cells.

The approach is meant to address a broader challenge in squamous cancers, where targeted treatment options are limited after first-line therapy stops working.

Follow the money: The Column Group led, with participation from Vida Ventures, MRL Ventures Fund, Emerson Collective, Euclidean Capital, Solasta Ventures, Sanofi and Eli Lilly.

Zoom in: InduPro now has backing from three major pharmas — Merck, Sanofi and Lilly — which Raman says reflects strategic interest in its target-discovery platform.

Sanofi and Lilly are also InduPro development partners.

What's next: Raman says to watch for additional partnerships as InduPro looks to advance IDP-001 and earlier programs.

What they're saying: "If you ask investors, they'll say a lot is riding on IDP-001," Raman says. 

"A lot is going to rest on the clinical data from our lead program because it's really our first validation of our proximity pairing, leading to novel biology and to transformational therapeutics."

What we're watching: The Series B gives InduPro runway through mid-2028, beyond its expected late-2027 or early-2028 proof-of-concept readout.
