Condor Software raised a $24 million Series A round to grow its AI forecasting platform for life sciences, CEO Jennifer Kyle tells Axios Pro exclusively.

Why it matters: Rising R&D costs in pharma are driving a wave of startups looking to make drug development more efficient.

Follow the money: Insight Partners led, joined by Felicis, 645 Ventures, Pamir Ventures, SNR Ventures, Prebys Ventures and Bramalea Partners.

San Diego-based Condor has raised $36 million to date. New funds will help the company double its team to about 50 by year-end, Kyle says. 

How it works: Condor's platform integrates clinical, operational and financial data, helping pharmaceutical companies forecast and manage clinical trial costs, as well as avoid delays or cancellations.

Context: Right now, much of this work is done using spreadsheets, Kyle says. Condor helps automate it.

Zoom in: Clients include Acadia Pharmaceuticals, Alumis Therapeutics, BridgeBio Pharma and Madrigal Pharmaceuticals.

Customers report 90% forecast accuracy and 30% average budget savings, Condor says.

What they're saying: "If we want to get better at innovating in getting new treatments to market, one of the first steps is to have financial clarity," Kyle says.

Catch up quick: Kyle founded Condor in 2020 after spending years in financial auditing and consulting for life sciences companies, including a stint at Ernst & Young.

State of play: It's one of several life sciences software startups to secure new funding in recent months.

Sorcero, an agentic AI platform for the pharmaceutical industry, raised a $42.5 million Series B last November.

Weave Bio, a software platform that automates regulatory paperwork for drug development, raised a $20 million Series A last October.

Peer AI, a life sciences software firm founded in 2023 that accelerates FDA drug approval documentation, also raised $12.1 million in October.
