Poll reveals deep partisan divide over America's status as a moral leader

Americans are deeply divided along party lines over whether they think the U.S. is setting a moral example for the rest of the world, according to a June 2018 survey by the Public Religion Research Institute.

Data: Public Religion Research Institute survey conducted June 2015, August 2017 and June 2018; Chart: Chris Canipe/Axios

The big picture: Politics are becoming more personal, and more polarized. The survey findings reflect an increasingly polarized political climate in the Trump era, with the administration's policy proposals increasingly furthering the divide.
