The "Oklahoma!" Broadway revival plans to contribute at least $10,000 to an unnamed nonprofit that aims to reduce gun violence, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The big picture: "Oklahoma!" will be the first Broadway show to endorse the nonprofit's mission of mitigating fictional depictions of gun violence by supporting firearms reduction and buyback programs, thereby highlighting the real-world consequences of gun violence. The "gun-neutral" concept is similar to corporate initiatives on carbon footprints, in which companies invest in greenhouse gas reduction programs to offset their own emissions.
