2. 🍿 What to watch this weekend

The Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival continues this weekend — but if you're staying home, here are notable new titles streaming this week.
"Hacks" — Season 5 available today on HBO Max
- After TMZ falsely reports her death, stand-up comedian Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) returns, determined to get an EGOT before anyone writes her off for good.
- It's the final season of the critically acclaimed comedy that earned Smart four Emmys and co-star Hannah Einbinder one.
"Euphoria" — Season 3 available Sunday on HBO Max
- After a five-year time jump, the group is out of high school and navigating marriages, a movie studio lot, Mexico and all kinds of new trouble.
- Catch up quick: Season 2 aired back in 2022, and Emmy winner Zendaya has suggested this will be the final season.
"Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair" — available Friday on Hulu
- In the limited four-episode series that's available almost 20 years since the original show's finale, Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) now has a daughter and girlfriend — and is desperately trying to avoid his parents and brothers.
- Fun fact: The role of Dewey was recast because original actor Erik Per Sullivan retired from acting. Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek return as Malcom's parents.
"Outcome" — available Friday on Apple TV+
- Keanu Reeves plays a beloved Hollywood star, Reef, in this dark comedy. That part's not surprising. What is: Someone's blackmailing him, so he has to confront his problematic past and figure out who has ill will.
"Big Mistakes" — Season 1 available today on Netflix
- Dan Levy's first scripted series since "Schitt's Creek" follows two "deeply incapable" (Netflix's words) siblings (Levy and Taylor Ortega) who find themselves blackmailed into the world of organized crime.
✏️ Audrey is moderating a panel at the sold-out Minnesota debut of "A Short Documentary About a Giant Pencil."
- If you have any burning questions for the homeowners, sculptor or film's director, send them my way!
