🚀 Situational awareness: SpaceX will report its first post-IPO earnings after today's closing bell.
Top of the Morning
Trump Media & Technology Group, the owner of Truth Social, has begun charging up to $100,000 per month for early access to President Trump's posts.
Why it matters: There already were concerns that government insiders are trading on nonpublic information. Now the circle of mistrust has expanded to those willing and able to pay for a split-second edge on posts that can — and frequently do — jolt markets.
- It may not violate any laws or securities rules, but it sure feels like it should. Similar to the need for congressional stock trade rules.
The big picture: Trump has transformed his second term into the most lucrative venture of his long career, raking in more than $2.2 billion in 2025 from his family crypto empire, legal settlements and various licensing deals.
- Truth API is the logical endpoint of that profiteering: Trump's official communications, packaged and sold as a subscription.
Catch up quick: TMTG on Sunday launched an API that provides real-time access to data from President Trump and other "highest-ranking" accounts.
- It could cost between $60,000 and $100,000 per month. For context, TMTG generated $871,000 in the first quarter of 2026 and $3.68 million for all of 2025.
Zoom in: For quant traders, there could be big benefits of getting Trump posts even just milliseconds before rivals.
- A March 23 post postponing strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure sent Brent crude tumbling nearly 11%.
- Trump's March 2025 announcement of a U.S. crypto reserve drove XRP up 27% and added roughly $300 billion to the global crypto market.
- His threat last October to impose massive new tariffs on China sent the S&P 500 down 2.7%.
Behind the scenes: Subscription revenue would flow to TMTG, not to Trump himself.
- But Trump is the company's largest shareholder with around a 41% stake, which is held in a revocable trust with Donald Trump Jr. as sole trustee.
- TMTG's stock price is up more than 6% since announcing the API, giving the president a paper gain of more than $70 million.
What to watch: Were the API to become a major business line, it could theoretically prompt TMTG to pay dividends, with Trump the largest recipient.
- It also could make Truth Social more of a viable standalone business, were it to be spun off following a planned merger with nuclear company TAE, which is slated to close before year-end.
Disclosure: In 2023, TMTG sued 20 media organizations, including Axios, for defamation. Litigation is ongoing.
The BFD
Bending Spoons (Nasdaq: BSP) has agreed to acquire Airtable, an SF-based relational database company, for $1.29 billion in cash. The implied equity value is $2.25 billion, including Airtable's cash and cash equivalents.
Why it's the BFD: This is one of the first major SaaSpocalypse sales, and an absolute crater for many of Airtable's venture investors.
By the numbers: Airtable had raised around $1.35 billion since its 2012 founding.
- $735 million in 2021 led by XN at an $11 billion pre-money valuation. Others on the deal included Silver Lake, Iconiq, Salesforce Ventures, and T. Rowe Price.
- $270 million round just months earlier led by Greenoaks at a $5.5 billion pre-money valuation.
- $185 million Series D round in late 2020 led by Thrive Capital at a $2.4 billion pre-money valuation.
The bottom line: Bending Spoons went public in July, with CEO Luca Ferrari telling me that "predictability" is the main characteristic he looks for in an acquisition target.
- Shares were up around 25% at yesterday's close, and higher in today's pre-market trading.
