Our newest entertainment venue opens this week in the Hill District.

Why it matters: Citizens Live at The Wylie adds another piece to the Lower Hill's redevelopment, decades after the neighborhood was demolished in the name of urban renewal.

By the numbers: The 98,500-square-foot venue next to PPG Paints Arena will have a 4,300-person capacity.

The vibe: A 38-step grand staircase is flanked by photographs from Charles "Teenie" Harris, whose work documented Black life during the Hill District's heyday.

• An upside-down, glimmering piano nods to the mirrored piano at the former Crawford Grill, the legendary former jazz venue.
• It has seven bars, including an outdoor rooftop bar and The Vinyl Room, a cocktail lounge open to members and to the public for an upcharge.

The latest: The Wylie hosted a soundcheck soft open yesterday, featuring local legends Donnie Iris & The Cruisers.

Between the lines: Balcony seats range from about 30 feet to about 130 feet from the stage. The goal was to build a bigger Pittsburgh music venue, but keep the experience as intimate as possible, said Tom Loudermilk, Western Pennsylvania president for Live Nation.

Dig in: The Wylie is one of the only Live Nation venues to have pierogies, per officials.

• Try those or other snacks like hot dogs, deep-fried pretzels and local beer.
• There's even a 12-ounce pour of light beer for $5.

Parking: Thousands of spots are available in the immediate area. On show days that coincide with Pittsburgh Penguins hockey games, the venue is working with PPG Paints Arena to stagger arrival times to limit traffic, said Loudermilk.

The intrigue: Citizens Live at The Wylie has lined up dozens of acts with big names like Wiz Khalifa, Little Big Town and Chance the Rapper.

Ryan's picks: Indie pop sensation Role Model kicks off shows on Thursday, and it's hard not to bop along to hits like "blind."

• Seth Meyers performs on Dec. 12, and in addition to being hilarious, he's a die-hard Steelers fan.
• Slappers N Bangers vs Union on Jan. 16 should be an epic hip-hop party, and it's nice to see The Wylie boost the local dance scene.

Chrissy's picks: Modest Mouse on Oct. 10 — she's been humming "The World At Large" for 20 years.

• Boyz II Men on Oct. 16 for the nostalgia and laid-back atmosphere.
• Charles Wesley Godwin on Oct. 30 because his Beaver County-inspired "Cranes of Potter" is one of her faves.

Chloe's pick: Millennial nostalgia is calling, and Death Cab for Cutie is picking up. We all deserve a fresh moment with "I Will Follow You Into the Dark," and The Wylie is delivering that on March 30.

What we're watching

🏛️ Mayor Corey O'Connor said his reforms have helped shorten wait times for building permits. For example, it now takes about 11 days to get a building and development permit. It took 27 days last year. (Public Source)

🧸 Toys"R" Us is expected to return soon to locations at Ross Park Mall, the Mall at Robinson, South Hills Village Mall, the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills and Westmoreland Mall, the company announced. (KDKA Radio)

💰 Gov. Josh Shapiro raised $13.3 million in campaign funds between June 9 and Sept. 14, according to filings. His opponent, state Treasurer Stacy Garrity, raised $1.8 million in the same time span. Shapiro has $19.9 million on hand, while Garrity has $1.4 million. (PoliticsPA)

Bengals fans can once again wear orange and black gear in Cincinnati's Martino's on Vine on game days. That doesn't mean they should.

Why it matters: The bar has been a Steelers stronghold for three decades, with a rivalry heated enough to get Bengals gear banned.

Flashback: Pittsburgh native Marty Angiulli played football at the University of Cincinnati in 1991, and his family opened the sports bar four years later.

Between the lines: Angiulli traces the rivalry's nastier turn to the hit that injured former Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer in the 2005-2006 playoffs and, later, the Vontaze Burfict era.

• Fights broke out at the bar, and police were called during several games.
• Angiulli responded with reservations and a dress code: Steelers black and gold only.

Yes, but: Martino's has quietly eased up on the no-Bengals-gear policy for the past couple of games.

• Bengals fans are welcome, Angiulli tells Axios. But they don't exactly come flooding in — and definitely no "Who Dey!" chants.
• Most Cincy fans arrive with friends or significant others who root for the Steelers.

What to expect: Nearly 300 people regularly pack Martino's two floors on Sundays.

The bottom line: Martino's must have been rocking after the Steelers' 30-27 win over the Bengals.
