1 big thing: It's Pride weekend
The two-day party described as "the ultimate celebration of love, diversity and equality" takes over Civic Center in downtown Denver this weekend.
Why it matters: Denver Pride draws an estimated half-million people each year in celebration of the community, but this year's gathering comes as LGBTQ rights are being targeted by the White House and Congress.
The vibe: All are welcome to this rainbow party. The event includes performances, food vendors and 250-plus exhibitors.
If you go: Pride starts 8am Saturday at the state Capitol with a 5K fundraising race for the event's host, the Center on Colfax.
- The PrideFest exhibition runs 11am to 7pm Saturday and 10am to 6pm Sunday.
- The popular parade is Sunday, starting at 9:30am. This year's will take place on 17th Avenue from Franklin Street to Lincoln Street.
