Axios Denver

November 02, 2024
Happy Saturday! I'm Emma, a new face for y'all, but I've actually worked with John, Alayna and Esteban since Day 1.
- All I can say is: You're lucky to have such a hard-working team of genuinely good humans sending you free (!) newsletters almost every day for nearly four (!) years.
- Axios has no paywall. No subscription fees. And only minimal peer pressure to become an Axios Denver member. (Please? 🙏)
- I'm here today to give your reporters a break before their election coverage picks up. They'll be back in your inbox tomorrow.
Today's newsletter is 351 words — a 1.5-minute read.
1 big thing: Cup of coffee for good
A new café and job training academy in Aurora called Change Please Coffee is now open.
Why it matters: The international coffee chain is on a mission to end homelessness through its career development and employee support programs.
- 100% of the profits from the café power these programs, which offer employees and trainees support with housing, finances and therapy.
Background: Change Please started in the U.K. in 2015 and has since expanded to eight countries, including its first location in the U.S. in Charlotte, N.C.
Stop by: Change Please is located at 2115 N. Scranton Street, Ste. 1080 in Aurora. It's open 7am-2pm Monday through Friday.
2. Book these homes for Friendsgiving
Every year, a group of my friends and our kids rent an Airbnb for a weekend in November or December.
Why it matters: We're spread across the country, so this is the one weekend a year we spend uninterrupted quality time together over a traditional Thanksgiving feast and Secret Santa gift exchange. It's something I look forward to every year.
If you want to try this yourself, may I suggest a mountain home for easy access to skiing while you're at it?
- Ball out with this $2,000+ a night home for 19 guests in Keystone.
- Book this serene dome for $900+ with a sauna and hot tub for 16 people in Idaho Springs.
- Or score this Breckenridge villa that sleeps 20 for $500+ a night.

✈️ Speaking of concerts, I'm flying to Boston this morning to see Lawrence. Next time they're in Denver, I highly recommend checking them out.
- In the meantime, here's my favorite video from the brother-sister-led band.
