👋🏼 It's Cuneyt, here with our weekend events roundup.
Today's newsletter is 629 words — a 2.5-minute read.
1 big thing: 🪺 Easter picks
It's Easter weekend, and some places are putting a holiday spin on their menus, along with all-day parties.
Why it matters: You can still snag some of these tickets.
🍤 On the indulgent side, Blue Duck Tavern in West End is holding a brunch buffet — beginning with smoked meats and fish, jumbo lump crab cake and fresh shellfish ... plus mains that include slow-roasted prime rib.
- Sunday reservations are $165.
🍷 In Park View, St. Vincent Wine is hosting a Spring Fling this Sunday. Tickets ($90) get you unlimited wine, an "Easter-ish" spread with ham and biscuits, and an adult Easter egg hunt.
- If you ever wanted a wine pairing with Peeps ... the folks at Little Blackbird would recommend French Sauternes. Playful Easter pairings are available at the Cleveland Park wine bar, including jelly beans and Blanc de Blanc.
🐰 For the kiddos, the Easter bunny is hopping over to Tyson's Capital One Center. There'll be a meet-and-greet and an Easter egg hunt, plus a petting zoo, a "color fun run" and more this Saturday.
What else is happening this weekend:
🤣 Comedian Nate Bargatze is bringing his standup world tour to Capital One Arena on Thursday and Friday. The show begins at 7 both nights. Tickets
🌸 Continuing the Cherry Blossom Festival, family-friendly Petalpalooza is happening on Saturday at Yards Park in Navy Yard. Live music, interactive art and activities like face painting during the day will cap off with a fireworks show starting at 8:30pm.
🏀 Touted as the "most legendary high school basketball All-American game," the Capital Classic is back for its 53rd year, at Capital One Arena on Saturday. Tickets
2. 📺 What's on TV
April is here, and so are these new streaming picks.
"The Boys" — Season 5 available next Wednesday on Prime Video
- The fifth and final season of one of streaming's most-watched (and goriest) series premieres with two episodes, and then weekly new episodes.
- Context: Homelander, the superhero baddie on the show and king of reaction memes online, now controls America under fascist rule. It's up to Billy Butcher and the gang to end the "supe" threat once and for all.
"Alien: Romulus" — available tomorrow on HBO Max
- The newest entry in the sci-fi horror franchise arrives on HBO Max this month, along with its predecessors up through Ridley Scott's original "Alien" (1979) — in case you're in the mood for a movie marathon.
- Catch up quick: The blockbuster grossed more than $350 million at the worldwide box office in 2024. A sequel is already in development.
"Your Friends & Neighbors" — Season 2 available tomorrow on Apple TV+
- Jon Hamm returns as Andrew "Coop" Cooper, a disgraced hedge fund manager who has doubled down on his second life as a suburban thief. But a mysterious new neighbor (James Marsden) threatens to expose everything.
- The latest: Apple already renewed the show for a third season.
"The Truth and Tragedy of Moriah Wilson" — Tomorrow on Netflix
- In May 2022, elite cyclist Moriah Wilson was shot and killed in Austin, Texas, days before a major race. This documentary explores who she was and the impact she had on those who loved her.
- Zoom in: The film had its world premiere at SXSW this month.
"Untold: Chess Mates" — available next Tuesday on Netflix
- The latest entry in Netflix's hit sports documentary franchise revisits the 2022 Sinquefield Cup, where rising American grandmaster Hans Niemann defeated five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen. It became one of the biggest scandals in chess history.
- What they're saying: "The truth, reckoning, and revolution is upon us," Niemann wrote on X after the film's trailer debuted.
🛬 I'm settling back in after a trip to Chicago.
