🥳 Happy weekend! Doesn't look like we'll have a repeat of last Saturday weather-wise, but let's make the best of it, shall we?
- Heads up: The No Kings rally and march kicks off at 1:30pm Saturday at Grant Park, so account for that in any travel plans.
Today's newsletter is 772 words — a 3-minute read.
1 big thing: Dempster dining destination
👋🏽 Hi, it's Monica!
Earlier this week, I took readers on a culinary tour of Dempster Street in the near north suburbs.
The big picture: I was overwhelmed by readers' fabulous suggestions for more great spots to eat.
The vibe: It's the weekend, which means more time to explore. So eat your way through one of the area's most interesting dining destinations at some of these spots.
🇦🇫 Kabul House (2424 W Dempster St., Evanston): "You must try the aush here. I could eat that soup every day - same with the veggie platter." - Christine K.
🧐 Dempster in Evanston: "Dozika, Blind Faith Cafe, Panino's, Zentli, Bagel Art Cafe are all giving you the side eye."😜 - Brian E.
🛒 Village Marketplace (4034 W Dempster St., Skokie) "has fresh, inexpensive produce and food from around the world. I always pick up my Ukrainian milk and French cheese there." - Lori B.
🇰🇷 Hwang Soh Grill (5819 W. Dempster St., Morton Grove) "has amazing Korean BBQ. They play K-pop videos nonstop on their TVs. Their pork belly and short rib are insanely delicious." - Shin L.
🥗 Taboun "at Dempster and Gross Pointe Road in Skokie is great for Israeli/Yemeni Jewish food. I highly recommend it." - Ed N.
🍱 "Sushi Kaya (6026 W. Dempster St., Niles) is great, as well as fusion pizza spots like Pizza Lab or Halal Pizza Point." - Susan P.

🧋Avalanche Bubble Tea (6317 W. Dempster St., Morton Grove). "You must try the peanut butter banana boba here. Delicious!!!" - Mindy H.

3. What to stream this weekend
If all this weekend's events look great, but you also need some chill time, here's what to check out on the ole boob tube.
"Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen" — available Thursday on Netflix
- A bride (Camila Morrone) grows increasingly convinced that her picture-perfect woodland wedding (with Adam DiMarco) is headed for disaster. She's right.
- Behind the scenes: It's executive produced by the Duffer Brothers of "Stranger Things" fame, and four of the episodes are directed by the "Baby Reindeer" director Weronika Tofilska.
"Detective Hole" — available Thursday on Netflix
- Based on Jo Nesbø's beloved Harry Hole novels, this nine-episode Norwegian noir follows a brilliant but self-destructive Oslo detective (Tobias Santelmann) hunting a serial killer while battling corruption inside his own department.
"For All Mankind" — Season 5 available Friday on Apple TV+
- The acclaimed alternate-history sci-fi series returns, set in 2012, where the residents of a thriving Mars colony collide with those still on Earth.
- Between the lines: Apple confirmed that the show will end with Season 6. Meanwhile, a spinoff series from the Soviet perspective, "Star City," premieres May 29.
"Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice" — available Friday on Hulu
- Two gangsters (Vince Vaughn and James Marsden) and the woman they both love (Eiza González) have one wild night to survive, with a time machine thrown into the mix.
- The big picture: It's an R-rated action comedy that headlined SXSW this month.
💭 Carrie's thought bubble: I couldn't get enough of "For All Mankind" in the early seasons, but anyone else feel lost in Mars (😉) with all the time in between seasons?
- But, as a Nordic noir lover, "Detective Hole" will definitely be streaming in my house!
