Today's newsletter is 900 words — a 3.5-minute read.
1 big thing: Sine Die is here
Today is Sine Die, the final day of the Georgia General Assembly's 2026 legislative session.
Why it matters: If your idea of a fun time includes watching state lawmakers throw a blizzard of paper into the air, head to the Georgia Capitol on Thursday night.
State of play: Looming issues include legislation affecting state income taxes, transit referendums, data centers and more.
How it works: State representatives and senators begin the marathon session of horse-trading around 10am and don't stop until around midnight.
- Take MARTA to the Georgia State station, which is connected to the Sloppy Floyd building. Paid parking is available near Liberty Plaza and Underground Atlanta and along some nearby streets.
- Pass through security at the Capitol's southern entrance and follow the sound of lobbyist chatter and speeches upstairs.
To get a bird's eye view of the House or Senate, head to the fourth floor and enter the chamber gallery.
- The "no photos" rule applies but often gets relaxed when the House speaker or lieutenant governor, who leads the Senate, yells "Sine die" and gavels the session to a close, sparking the tossed-paper party.
Fun fact: "Sine die" comes from the Latin phrase "without assigning a day for a further meeting or hearing," according to a state history.
Share this story and find your lawmakers if you don't know them.

3. Airport expects over 8.3M passengers in April
The world's busiest airport projects over 8.3 million passengers will walk through its terminals and concourses throughout April.
The latest: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport predicts Friday, April 3 will be one of its busiest travel days ever recorded, the airport said Wednesday in a press release.
By the numbers: TSA workers are also expected to conduct 115,000 security screenings, which would exceed the last single-day record of 110,000 screenings performed in May 2024, the airport said.
What to expect: Security wait times have dramatically improved over the last few days, but the airport is still urging passengers to arrive least 2.5 hours before domestic flights.
- Anyone taking an international flight should get to ATL at least three hours before departure.
Catch up quick: The hours-long wait times at ATL and other airports last month propelled President Trump to send U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to assist short-staffed TSA workers with screening passengers.
State of play: City Council member Byron Amos said during last week's Transportation Committee meeting he will introduce legislation that would determine the feasibility of privatizing security screening at the airport, the AJC reports.
What we're watching: If security wait times spike as the weekend draws closer.
4. 🚌 Pic du jour: What's up with that lane
Crews have started painting bright red "bus only" lanes throughout Downtown along the route of the Rapid A Line, MARTA's first bus-rapid transit project.
Zoom in: What sets apart the A Line, the first phase of which is scheduled to launch on April 18, is the fact that the vehicle travels in its own lane.
Yes. but: Republican state lawmakers who are traumatized by constituent backlash over the use of traffic cameras have blocked legislation that would allow MARTA to issue citations to people parked in the "bus only" lane.
5. Five-ish Points: Updated Michelin Guide due in October
🏡 Atlanta Housing officials expect the first phase of Bowen Homes' redevelopment into a 2,000-home mixed-use neighborhood to open before the end of 2026. (11 Alive)

📓 Parents of students in DeKalb County's McNair and Cedar Grove clusters are pushing back on a school closure and consolidation plan currently under consideration. (Decaturish)
