Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) warned senators not to push Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation through without seriously vetting the claims of those who have accused him of sexual assault, the New York Times reports.
"We are now in a place where it’s not about whether or not Judge Kavanaugh is qualified... It is about whether or not a woman who has been a victim at some point in her life is to be believed."— Sen. Murkowski
Why it matters: Murkowski is seen as a key swing vote for Republicans in Kavanaugh's upcoming confirmation hearing, and the allegations against him could sway her decision.
