Padres return home with their season on the line

• This series features two strong franchises that have never won a World Series. So one of them gets a step closer to breaking the drought, while the other sadly has to keep waiting.

The good news: The next two games are here at Petco Park, where the team won nearly two-thirds of its games this season.

• The Chicago Cubs just learned that the hard way.

Zoom in: We have Nick Pivetta set to start Game 3 Tuesday night at 6:30pm. He's experienced and had a solid showing against the Cubs last week.

Yes, but: The Padre bats will need to wake up for this series to head back to Milwaukee for a winner-take-all fifth game.

The bottom line: It's a tough matchup for San Diego, but hopefully the Padres give fans something to cheer about over the next few days.
