Santee to get New York-style steakhouse this June

Zoom in: The steakhouse will sit on the sixth floor of the luxury senior living Lantern Crest Resort Community.

• It will be styled like a fancy old-fashioned steakhouse.
• Think art deco paintings, old-world brass lighting, rich mahogany, white-linen tables, and "soft, Sinatra-era jazz with a modern twist," according to a press release.

What they're saying: "All of East County San Diego hasn't really had access to something like this," founder Michael Grant told Axios. "If you want to go to a really high-end kind of place and have a really luxury experience, you're stuck going downtown or to La Jolla."

They've done market research and found East County has the desire for fancy steak, he said.

Inside the room: The steakhouse will be near Gillespie Field Airport, so you can see planes landing as you eat.

• "And we're going to have a valet, a doorman and glass elevators taking you up to the top floor," he said.

All they're missing is a Frank Sinatra impersonator.
