Birch Aquarium hosts climate change dance party

When you think "climate change," you probably don't then think "dance party."

The big picture: But that's exactly what's happening Friday at Birch Aquarium: a DJ dance party to celebrate climate solutions.

Zoom in: The party is built around a climate movement led by marine biologist Ayana Elizabeth Johnson and marks the launch of her book "What If We Get It Right?: Visions of Climate Futures."

It will bring together "ocean science, climate solutions and a whole lot of joy," according to event organizers.

Yes, but: Climate change and joy? Really?

What they're saying: "My motto is, 'Take climate change seriously, but do not take yourself seriously,'" Johnson told Axios. "A panel discussion in a bookstore just doesn't seem like the vibe right now. The world is a hot mess, and I feel like we all just need to boogie."

If you go: The party is 6-9pm Friday and all ages are welcome.

Tickets are $39.95 for adults, $34.95 for kids and $15.95 for UC San Diego faculty, staff and students.
DJs for Climate Action will provide the tunes.

Maybe dress as your favorite climate solution, Johnson suggests.
