Hillcrest has installed 112 Pride and Progress flags on street lamps and poles throughout the neighborhood, creating a year-round visible display of support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Local LGBTQ+ nightlife and business leaders helped fund the project that was led by Ryan Bedrosian, owner of Rich's Nightclub and board president of the Hillcrest Business Association.
Gossip Grill, Baja Betty's, The Brass Rail, Urban Mo's, InsideOut, Uptown Tavern, Number One Fifth Ave and Flicks were all part of the effort.
What's next: They plan to install another 112 flags starting next year to reinforce Hillcrest's legacy as San Diego's LGBTQ+ Cultural District.
